US Drives, Inc. Inverters are used in the renewable energy project conducted by Florida Atlantic University. These tests involve suspending turbines in the Florida Straits Gulf Stream to see whether the powerful ocean current can be used to generate electricity. The test turbines are about three meters in diameter, nine to fifteen miles off shore.
